Mike Micklewright
A dynamic speaker in the application of business, lean, and quality theories, Mike Micklewright challenges organizations and leaders to determine, understand, and develop the principles behind what it is that will make their company more successful in the future and then develop the culture and business practices that will support these principles while eliminating the practices that conflict with the principles. Mike?s focus is a Principle first approach, rather than the more common Tool first approach so prevalent in American business as seen with popular business tools and programs such as Six Sigma, Lean, and/or ISO 9001.

MIKE MICKLEWRIGHT is a dynamic speaker, actor, author, motivationist, business and quality consultant and trainer based in the Chicago area. Mike provides a unique look into the application of business and quality theories into our everyday lives.
IN 2010, Mike had published two new books, ?Out of Another @#&*% Crisis! ? Motivation Through Humiliation? and ?Lean ISO 9001 ? Adding Spark to Your ISO 9001 QMS and Sustainability to Your Lean Efforts?, both of which can be found at www.amazon.com.
In the former book, Mike speaks of how far removed we?ve become, as a nation of organizations, from what the late great Dr. W. Edwards Deming taught us just 30 years ago. In the 80?s and early 90?s, American business leaders listened to Dr. Deming intently and tried to follow his ways as the person that brought Japanese quality levels to unprecedented levels in the world market. Since Dr. Deming died in 1993, we have all but forgotten what he taught us.
In keynote presentations throughout the Unites States, Mike has impersonated Dr. Deming and alternates between the low pitch monotone Deming and the much more dynamic Mike Micklewright in a very entertaining and thought provoking presentation. Click on the ?Video? tab for a look at Mike impersonating Dr. Deming.
In the latter book, ?Lean ISO 9001?, Mike explains how to integrate the oft mandated Quality Management System Standard with the benefits of a Lean environment and the use of lean tools as complementary forces which together form much more effective and efficient processes and systems.
Mike had written, acted in, produced, and sells his own line of training videos, including "BATCHIN"! How Something So Wrong Can Seem So Right", ?Auditing Nuts and Bolts?, and ?The ISO Auditors Are Coming?.
Mike has also emceed several conferences and has performed a stand-up comedy routine called, "Shitsu Kigeki, If It's Japanese, It's Got to be Good!", a routine that pokes fun of quality, Lean, Six Sigma, Consultants, Auditors, Leadership, and ISO 9001in the areas of business and quality.
Not afraid of telling it like it is, Mike also writes an entertaining, witty, and informative column for Quality Digest, an on-line magazine published, in which he is known as ?The Whys Guy?. Editor ? in ? Chief, Dirk Dusharme, comments on Mike?s writings ?
?Because we put out a daily e-newsletter, we rely on having strong columnists to anchor our newsletters so that readers keep coming back for more. Micklewright does that... with a vengeance. His down-to-earth tone, coupled with a humorous cynicism of the crazy things we do in the name of Quality, makes Micklewright our most popular regular columnist. Maybe it's his "every man" appeal, or perhaps it's the way he makes a point. Either way, our readers love it. His columns regularly pull in about 2,000 readers the day the newsletter goes out."
