Hypnosis as a form of entertainment has come a long way from the days of Vaudeville and the traveling fair. Unlike the early years with a somber Hypnotist claiming to have supernatural power over his "subjects", the modern Hypnotist Entertainer brings out the creative and intelligent side of the volunteers who join the show. Vic Gordon has been entertaining South African audiences for the past 25 years both on stage as well as behind the scenes.
He began working as a Stage Hypnotist in 1992. As a hypnotist, I finds talented performers in the strangest of places. Imagine a Chief Accountant who discovers that he can sing and dance just like Madonna or the tea lady who suddenly finds herself the commander of a rocket ship to Mars. How about the school teacher who finds herself back in pre-school taking part in an ugly face pulling competition.
Vic's are packed with music, laughter and the most amazing humor imaginable. The humor comes directly from the volunteers and because they change with each show there is always something fresh to laugh about. His focus is on fun, for the audience, for the volunteers and for myself as well. He does not do any of the dangerous or degrading material you may have seen in other performances and he doesn't encourage violence or hate speech from my volunteers either. This is not to say that of his shows are all family rated and squeaky clean. With a mature audience things can get pretty hectic but he always make sure that my volunteers are able to leave the stage at the end of the show with most of their dignity intact.
Much of his work is in the field of corporate entertainment and he has been involved in everything from product launches to year end functions, incentive programs, conferences and motivational workshops. With a little pre show consultation, Vic can tailor his show to fit in with the theme of just about any event.
Vic's show is a one man collection of skits, bits and mischief which is suitable for private parties and small venues. On the other end of the scale, he offers a full 90 minute production with dedicated sound, lighting and big screen video relay which is suitable for any audience and venue.
Vic has performed in theaters, clubs, pubs, restaurants, schools and universities throughout South Africa. His show has been televised on South African national television and he has made a number of appearances on a variety of local talk and music radio shows.
