Patrick Lee is a professional speaker, actor and writer. Since 1990, he has inspired, entertained and educated audiences from Boston to Honolulu with his authentic, first person keynote presentations as Thomas Jefferson, Daniel Boone, and William Clark, of Lewis and Clark fame. He also appears as himself, The Hopeful Humorist, with a program of motivational humor, patriotism and inspiration.
As a writer, he authored a series of 21 articles about the Lewis and Clark Expedition. They were published quarterly from 2001 to 2006 by both the Missouri Society of Professional Surveyors and the Wisconsin Society of Land Surveyors.
Those articles have been expanded and incorporated into a book, Mosquitoes, Gnats & Prickly Pear Cactus: The Lewis & Clark Review. Academically, Lee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in History Education from the University of Missouri, earned way too many years ago.
Home is a farmhouse on 30 acres in central Missouri, shared with his wife of 37 years, two foster sons, the fond memories of four adult daughters who have moved on, a strictly outdoor cat named Tipper, and a deaf Labrador/Rottweiler mix named Bingo (or Bing or Ding or Dingo or Dingo Dog. Take your pick or supply one of your own. Since she's deaf, she answers equally well to all names.)
Patrick's business name is Jefferson, Boone, Clark and Lee.
Thomas Jefferson: "Lessons in Leadership"
- 7 Principles of Leadership
- 10 Lessons for a Lifetime
- 3 Challenges for Your Future
"These leadership presentations are customized to your interests! Medical groups have heard about 18th & 19th century medical practice. Educators learn of my lifelong passion for public education. Civic and governmental organizations hear ideas on public service. I conclude with thoughts on change, eminently practical advice for today, and challenges for your future."
Daniel Boone:"Thriving on the Edge"
- Savoring the Unknown
- Overcoming Tragedy
- How to Respond When You're "Lost"
"I share my life of 86 years from birth in Pennsylvania to North Carolina to Kentucky to Missouri, with stories from childhood to old age. I talk about family adventures, successes and tragedies, life on the frontier, encounters with other settlers, with the law and with the Indians. I conclude with some of my guiding philosophy and two very personal life-affecting lessons learned a half-century apart."
William Clark:"Conquering the Unknown"
- Overcoming Obstacles
- The Triumph of Teamwork
- The Value of a Virtuous Life
"Explore with me those 28 magnificent months when Meriwether Lewis and I led
the Corps of Discovery to the Pacific Ocean and back, combating hostility,
hunger, sickness, deprivation and death, the unexpected and the unknown. I also
speak of the events that led to the Expedition and its results. I describe my
significant 30-year role in frontier history and Indian affairs. I inspire my
audiences with important perspectives, all drawn from the journals of the Lewis
& Clark Expedition, all relevant today."
(The recent Bicentennial of the Lewis & Clark Expedition makes this a timely
program.)

in the front of the room, wrapping you in a warm, cozy, feel-good blanket of
helpful humor, cheerful challenge and illuminating inspiration."
