Faith Hill, Grammy Award winner, is still a Mississippi girl from a tiny town called Star who has become a beloved global superstar. Pouring herself into songs like "Mississippi Girl", from her sixth and latest album, "Fireflies", Faith always comes from a real place as an artist. "Everything I have done, I have tried to do from the soul", says Faith.
In 2004, Faith received the "People's Choice Award for Favorite Female Musical Performer", which she also won in 2001, 2002 and 2003. She has won four Grammy awards, three awards from the Country Music Association and twelve from the Academy of Country Music.
Faith Hill (Audrey Faith Perry) was born September 21, 1967, in Jackson, Mississippi. Growing up in Star, MS., Faith took her singing abilities to family reunions and gatherings, local rodeos and fairs, church, school - virtually wherever she had an audience.
It only took a few months in college for Faith to know that she was ready to pursue a career in country music. At the age of 19, she headed to Nashville to realize her dream. Her first Music City job was selling T-shirts at Fan Fair. Her next job, as a secretary at Gary Morris' publishing company, would eventually lead her to stardom. Caught singing privately (while on the job) by a writer who worked there, Faith was convinced by the writer to do a demo of a song. Gary Morris himself heard Faith's rendition of the song and encouraged her to pursue a singing career. Her first professional gig was singing backup for songwriter-musician Gary Burr, who would later become her co-producer. She was discovered by a Warner Bros. Executive while singing with Burr at Nashville's famed Bluebird Cafe.
When Warner Bros. Nashville released Hill's debut album, "Take Me As I Am", in 1993, she made country music history. Her debut single, "Wild One", held the No. 1 position for four consecutive weeks on Billboard's country singles chart. The album was certified triple-platinum.
With each album that has followed - all multi-platinum sellers, 1995's "It Matters To Me", 1998's "Faith", 1999's massive breakthrough "Breath" and 2002's "Cry" - and throughout her journey, she has continued to grow and push herself as a singer and recording artist.
In October 1996, Faith married country singer, Tim McGraw. In 1997, Faith and Tim recorded "It's Your Love", resulting in the number 1 hit and Country Music award winner. While on tour, in 2006, with a stop in New Orleans to benefit their newly formed "Neighbor's Keeper Foundation", they set a box office record for the largest crowd ever at the New Orleans Arena. (17,447). Not only that, but Tim and Faith's sit-down chat and tour of the 9th Ward and St. Bernard's parish, with Anderson Cooper, netted his show an increase in ratings of more than 130%. Net sales from ticket and merchandise sales will be used for Gulf Coast relief. Tim and Faith have three daughters, Gracie Katherine (b. 1997), Maggie Elizabeth (b. 1998) and Audrey Caroline (b. 2001).
Her film credits include a supporting role in "The Stepford Wives" filmed in 2004 with Nicole Kidman and Bette Midler and "The CMT Music Awards 2006" in 2006.
Faith has performed at several high-profile events, including Super Bowl XXXIV, the 1996 Olympics, VH1 Divas Live 2000 and 2000 Academy Awards, where she stepped in at the last minute for an ailing Whitney Houston. Her image has graced the covers of countless national magazines, including People, US Weekly, Glamour, TV Guide and Redbook. She has also landed lucrative endorsements with Cover Girl, Pepsi and ALLTEL.
