Ahmad Rashad

Emmy-award winning sportscaster and former professional football player, Ahmad Rashad was a running back and wide receiver who went as the fourth overall pick in the 1972 NFL Draft. Rashad played with the St. Louis Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks and the Buffalo Bills. During his football career he earned four Pro Bowl selections. Rashad is author of Rashad: Vikes, Mikes and Something on the Backside .

Ahmad Rashad, Emmy Award winning sportscaster, was named executive producer of "NBA Inside Stuff" and NBA Entertainment-produced specials in March 1998. "NBA Inside Stuff", now in its 15th season, uses behind-the-scenes, reality-driven content as its focus. Rashad is also executive producer and host for NBA TV's celebrity talk show, "Ahmad One On One", and host of its pre-game show, "Live at the Finals".

Ahmad Rashad is a six-time Emmy Award nominee in five different categories, winning for writing in 1988. He is author of the best seller "Rashad: Vikes, Mikes and Something on the Backside". He was a four-time Pro-Bowl selection for the Minnesota Vikings.

Rashad has worked with "NBC Sports" since 1983 when he joined the network as an NFL commentator and reporter for NBC's "Sports World". At the 1996 Games in Atlanta, he served as a weekend host and late night correspondent. In 1992 he was one of the hosts of NBC's Olympic Triple Cast from Barcelona, and in 1988 he served as studio anchor during coverage of the Seoul Olympics. His efforts in Seoul later earned him an Emmy for writing.

He has also lent his talent to "Notre Dame Saturday", where in 1991 he was a host and the "NBC Sports Update" where he served as an anchor and as a commentator for various "Sports World" telecasts.

An All-Pro, Rashad was a four-time Pro-Bowl selection for the Minnesota Vikings and was voted to the Vikings All-Time 25th Anniversary Team and most recently the 40th Anniversary Team. He was a two-time All-American from the University of Oregon.

Ahmad Rashad is a graduate of the University of Oregon where in 1995 he was the recipient of the University's Pioneer Award, the highest honor given to an alumni. He also holds an honorary degree of Doctor of Journalism from the University of Puget Sound.
