Six-Time Emmy Award winning comedian, writer and producer, Ross Shafer is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. Where he earned a BA in Marketing. After college is created America's only stereo/pet shop called "Sounds O.K." Nope, it didn't catch on. So, he became the Advertising Director for "The Squire Shops" (a 29 store clothing chain) and yes, that went under, too. But Ross had a flair for comedy and had been moonlighting as a stand up comedian - eventually winning the l983 Showtime Comedy Laugh Off.
In l984, he created/hosted ALMOST LIVE for Seattle's NBC affiliate, King TV, and garnered (34) overall television Emmy Awards. Five years later, Ross was in Hollywood hosting THE LATE SHOW for FOX, MATCH GAME for ABC, DAYS END for ABC, and LOVE ME, LOVE ME NOT, for USA. He continued to expand his stand up career to headline major venues throughout the US and Europe - even the Middle East (Ross got scared and left). He is unnecessarily proud of success of his best selling cookbook & video; COOK LIKE A STUD - 38 recipes men can prepare in the garage using their own tools.
Last year he wrote and produced the critically acclaimed comedy album INSIDE THE FIRST FAMILY - a raucous ensemble CD that jabbed the Clinton administration but earned high praise; even from the White House Weekly - the official White House Newsletter.
Today, Ross is in demand as a corporate entertainer and workshop leader. He has produced 9 funny H.R. training films on the subjects of Customer Service, Humoring Your Stress Away, Powerful Presentations, and Peer Pressure.
Television-wise, Ross will soon reunite with his old friend Bill Nye (The Science Guy) to produce a Cooking TV Show for kids called, EAT THIS! Of all these activities, does Ross have a one favorite passion? "Nope. I love the variety and challenge of both live performing and television. The only thing I DO know is that I have learned from my mistakes. I promise never to get lured back to the glamour of the Stereo and Pet business."
