Biography:

Brooks Robinson has been called the greatest third baseman in Major League Baseball history. Brooks brought a flair and skill to his position unlike the sport had ever seen. From the first time Brooks stepped onto the field with the Baltimore Orioles in 1955 to his retirement in 1977, he dominated the left side of the infield.

His election to the Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot in 1983 culminated a career that is still talked about today. His accomplishments are legendary:

American League MVP 1964 World Series MVP 1970 16 Consecutive Gold Gloves 1960-1975 18 Consecutive All-Star Games 1960-1974 All-Star Game MVP 1966 Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame 1977

In the 1970 World Series, Brooks was the recipient of the MVP award. His defense was flawless and he tied the record for most hits in a five-game series with nine. In all, Brooks played in five championships and four World Series.

Today, Brooks continues to remain active in the game. He has served as the president of the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association since 1987; director of the Association of Professional Baseball Players of America since 1990; and director of the National Baseball Hall of Fame since 1995.

But Brooks Robinson is about more than just baseball. He has earned the reputation as both a successful businessman and community leader. He currently serves as an Assistant to Management for Crown Central Petroleum and is involved with numerous philanthropic organizations, including:

National Flag Day Foundation, Board of Directors Goodwill, Inc., Board of Governors March of Dimes, Board of Directors Save-A-Heart, Board of Directors Baltimore Museum of Art, Board of Trustees

As a result of his community service, Brooks has received several awards, including the Roberto Clemente Award, given to the Major League Baseball player who best exemplifies the game of baseball, both on and off the field; and the Silver Beaver Award, presented by the Boy Scouts of America. He has also been named Man of the Decade by the Baltimore Ad Club and Humanitarian of the Year by Goodwill Industries.

Programs:

In his presentations, Brooks Robinson mixes personal experiences with humorous baseball stories to draw parallels between business people and athletes. He shows that teamwork and motivation are common keys to success among both parties.
