Biography: Four Day Weekend, Improvisational Comedy, has been cited as "As Good as improv gets!" by the Dallas Morning News and "Satirically sharp and hilarious!" by the Star Telegram. Their television pilot "Get Lost" has recently been completed and will premier at the Four Day Weekend Theater in Fort Worth, Texas before being pitched to the networks. In the fall of 1996, three of Dallas' premier improvisational comics, David Wilk, Troy Grant, and Frank Ford decided to unify their diverse improvisational talents and form their own troupe. Dave, Troy and Frank had all been trained at Second City in Chicago and had been in local improv troupes for several years. While performing in an established troupe was compellingly secure, it was also artistically unfulfilling. So the three decided to become masters of their own destiny and create a show that more closely matched their comedic sensibilities. By February 1997, with nothing more than a bold idea and a rainbow wig, an artistic reality and Four Day Weekend was born. Dave, Troy and Frank went on to add a musical Director, Dave Holt, and another improviser, Chamblee Fergusson. Because five people didn't really qualify as a troupe, they added host Dave Ahearn to round out the headshot. Four Day Weekend was granted a limited six-week run in Casa Manana's Theatre on the Square in Fort Worth. No one could have predicted that those six weeks would turn into one of the most successful entertainment venues in Fort Worth. During the run at Casa, Chamblee became so busy with his prolific film and stage work that he left the show and moved on. David Holt got married, decided to spend more time with his family and went on to pursue other aspirations. At this time, Paul Slavens eased into the position of Musical Director, redefining the role. Paul had been the lead singer of the popular Dallas band Ten Hands and had also been trained in improvisation. Paul has become a crowd favorite at Four Day Weekend shows. After a year of consistent sell-out crowds at Casa Manana, Four Day Weekend outgrew Casa and moved into its new home, the 212-seat Caravan of Dreams Theatre, now called the Four Day Weekend Theater. Though Caravan seats twice as many people as Casa, it is also consistently sold out. In September 1999, Four Day Weekend invited Oliver Tull to join the cast. Oliver is a veteran improvisor whose comedic skills have made him one of the busiest and most sought after actors in Dallas/Fort Worth. Four Day Weekend has garnered critical acclaim from the media, being voted Best Comedy Troupe by the staff of the Fort Worth Star Telegram and FW Weekly.
