Biography:

James Belushi was born June 15, 1954 in Chicago and grew up as one of four children in Wheaton, Illinois. He attended the College of Dupage and Southern Illinois University, where he graduated with a degree in Speech and Theater Arts. In 1977, Jim joined Chicago's Second City improv troupe for three years. Then, in 1979, Garry Marshall saw Jim performing for 2nd City and arranged for him to come to Hollywood and co-star in the television pilot "Who's Watching the Kids" for Paramount, and then for a role in the television show "Working Stiffs," co-starring Michael Keaton. Later, in 1983, he joined the cast of "Saturday Night Live" for two years. Jim came to national attention through his role in the film About Last Night, playing the role he originated in the Chicago Apollo Theatre's production of David Mamet's Obie-award winning play "Sexual Perversity in Chicago." Jim has played an array of characters since his time in 2nd City, "SNL" and "Working Stiffs." Jim portrayed a mentally handicapped man in Homer and Eddie, a high school principal who defies a drug dealer in The Principal, a happy-go-lucky escaped convict who poses as a high-powered executive in Takin' Care of Business, and a corrupt police detective caught in a dangerous web of deceit in Gang Related.

Currently Jim can be found starring in his own sitcom, "According to Jim," Wednesday nights on ABC. While Jim is well-known to audiences worldwide as a talented actor, many are discovering that he is also a talented musician. He and the House of Blues' band, the Sacred Hearts, joined forces in 1995 after friend Dan Aykroyd asked Jim to join him as part of the Blues Brothers. Since that fateful day, Jim and the band have performed all over the country. They have worked in clubs, for private and corporate events, and even for President Bill Clinton and Vice-President Gore at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip. The Sacred Hearts continue to be the "official house band" for all of The House of Blues' clubs. The Sacred Hearts' music is heavy blues with a lot of soul, and these incredibly talented musicians, along with Jim Belushi, make this act one of the most entertaining blues-rock bands around.
