Biography: Few people have impacted the day-to-day management of people and companies more than Ken Blanchard. A prominent, gregarious, sought-after author, speaker and business consultant, Blanchard is universally characterized by friends, colleagues and clients alike as one of the most insightful, powerful and compassionate men in business today. When Blanchard speaks, he speaks from the heart with warmth and humor. His unique gift is to speak to an audience and communicate with the heart of each person as if they were alone together. He is a polished storyteller with a knack for making the seemingly complex easy to understand. Blanchard's impact as a writer is far reaching. His best-selling book, The One Minute Manager, co-authored with Spencer Johnson, has sold more than nine million copies worldwide and is still on bestseller lists. The One Minute Manager has been translated into more than 25 languages and is regarded as one of the most successful business books of all time. In addition, Blanchard has written several other successful books, including five more within the One Minute Manager Library. He co-authored The Power of Technical Management with Dr Norman Vincent Peale. In 1992, he released Playing the Great Game of Golf (rereleased as The One Minute Golfer), followed by Raving Fans: A Revolutionary Approach to Customer Service, co-authored with Sheldon Bowles. In 1994, Blanchard released We Are The Beloved, a book about his spiritual journey and in 1995 he released the best-seller Everyone's A Coach, co-authored with Don Shula, former head coach of the Miami Dolphins. In 1996 Blanchard published Empowerment Takes More Than A Minute with Alan Randolph and John Carlos, Managing by Values with Michael O'Connor and Mission Possible: Creating A World Class Organization with Terry Waghorn. His latest book, Gung Ho!, co-authored with Sheldon Bowles, is currently climbing the bestseller charts. Blanchard is chief spiritual officer of Blanchard Training and Development, Inc., a full-service, global management training and consulting company that he and his wife, Dr. Marjorie Blanchard, founded in 1979 in San Diego, CA. e is also visiting lecturer at his alma mater, Cornell University, where he is a trustee emeritus of the Board of Trustees. Blanchard has received several awards and honors for his contributions in the field of management, leadership and speaking. In 1991, the National Speakers Association awarded him its highest honor, the "Council of Peers Award of Excellence".In 1992, Blanchard was inducted into the HRD Hall of Fame by Training Magazine and Lakewood Conferences and he also received the 1992 Golden Gavel Award from Toastmasters International. In 1996, Blanchard received the Distinguished Contribution to Human Resource Development Award from the American Society of Training and Development. |
