Biography: 'Move over or I'll kill you,' he whispered. And so began Alison's nightmare journey with the two would-be killers. She was raped and her throat was slit 16 times. She was stabbed so many times doctors later could not count all the wounds and then left for dead miles from home. But Alison defied death and denied her attackers the satisfaction of destroying her life. The courage which allowed her to move beyond severe physical and emotional trauma and to turn a devastating experience into something life-affirming and strong, is an inspiration to people everywhere. You learn to recognize the importance of attitude at all times. You will gain insight into the power of belief in yourself and you will share of the freedom and responsibility of making choices, no matter what happens in your life. She has won numerous humanitarian awards and is the author of the best-seller I Have Life: Alison's Journey and For the Tough Times: Alison's Survivor Journal. For Alison, it has become her personal mission to make a difference in other people's lives. She believes that although we don't always get to control what happens in our lives, we always get to control what we do about it. Physicians call her survival a medical miracle, but perhaps the true miracle has been how she has chosen to deal with the experience. Rather than becoming bitter, she uses her experience as an example of the power of the human spirit, sharing with others the horror of being physically attacked, then offers insight into her own recovery and the power of inner strength. People around the world are inspired after hearing Alison's message, inspired to believe in the strength within each one of us to overcome the obstacles on our own life's journeys. |
