The Gallo Institute has been established by a financially oriented
psychotherapist and a psychologically educated estate planning lawyer who
recognize that people have complex relationships with family wealth and that
affluence, handled properly, is a positive factor in one's life.
Eileen Gallo, Ph.D., a psychotherapist in private practice in Los Angeles,
works with individuals and families dealing with the psychological and
emotional issues related to money, children and family wealth. Her doctoral
dissertation examined the psychological impact of sudden wealth. Dr. Gallo has
been a member of the Board and core faculty of the New York University
Institute on Family Wealth and is a regular columnist for the Journal of
Financial Planning. She is a member of the American Association of Marriage and
Family Therapy, the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists,
and the Stepfamily Association of America. Dr. Gallo is the vice chair of the
Committee on the Psychological and Emotional Issues of Estate Planning of the
American Bar Association.
Jon Gallo, J.D. is the senior partner in the estate planning department of
Greenberg Glusker Fields Claman Machtinger & Kinsella LLP. He is certified by
the California Board of Legal Specialization as a Specialist in Probate, Estate
Planning and Trust Law, a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate
Counsel and an Academician of the International Academy of Estate and Trust
Law. Mr. Gallo chairs the Committee on the Psychological and Emotional Issues
of Estate Planning of the American Bar Association. He is a prolific author of
more than 70 treatises and articles on estate planning. Mr. Gallo has also been
a member of the Board and core faculty of the New York University Institute on
Family Wealth, as well as a regular columnist for the Journal of Financial
Planning.Since 1987 the Gallos have co-authored articles examining the
psychological issues of family wealth planning which have been published by the
UCLA, NYU and Notre Dame Estate Planning Institutes, as well as the Journal of
the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the American Bar
