After a one and a half year battle with cancer, Scott Burton knows the tools
needed for survivorship
In life's trials there are physical, mental, emotional and oftentimes, medical
hardships. But when the trial is cancer, there is just as great of a need to
cope with and understand the human side of the battle, the side that focuses on
human integrity throughout. Scott acknowledges that, while some of our battles
are life-threatening and some are not, we are all survivors everyday. In some
way each of us is tested constantly. What makes everyday tests comparable to
life's greatest battles is that our personal survivorship is not just about
reaching goals or completing a project, but doing so with our spirits intact.
It is keeping the mind and body healthy.
Scott - an award winning comic, champion juggler and author - is working to
bring that message loud and clear to audiences nationwide.
Scott shares his story in programs throughout the country. With refreshing
honesty, experienced stand-up and world class juggling, Scott, to the delight
of laughter hungry survivors (of all kinds), breaks convention by crafting a
comedy routine - laced with joy and passion - of his personal battle with
cancer. A veteran of hundreds of shows since his diagnosis, Scott erases the
mystique and fear of cancer. His audience soon sees that it is not simply a
story about cancer. It is the story of life. And in every life there is humor
and joy to embrace.
Having been there, Scott believes the gift of laughter helps those in the mist
of struggle feel normal and see their lives as precious. "I felt, and still
do, that each moment laughing is a moment you are - if only for a second - in
love with life." A comedy club headliner, having worked with Jay Leno and
Louie Anderson as well as writing for prime time television, Scott, with clean
comedy and high-energy juggling, speaks about the human touch to health care
professionals and sends a life-affirming message to business professionals who
are looking for passion in the workplace.
