Biography:

Mark Thompson is one of America's top executive coaches and a sought-after speaker who has interviewed hundreds of the world's enduringly successful people from presidents of nations, billionaires, and Olympians, to Academy Award winners, Nobel laureates, and CEOs.

The coauthor of the international bestseller, Success Built to Last, he brings to every engagement two decades of experience as a senior executive, board member, management coach, producer and investor in growing businesses. Mark helps your team embrace rapid change, ignite growth as leaders and engage with influential people who are driving the future of your brand.

Mark's ability to draw out the relevant personal and business stories from thought leader interviews formed the foundation for the book, Success Built to Last, and also resulted in many audio and video programs, including, the Charles Schwab CEO series, Women on Leadership, Seven Sacred Secrets with Maya Angelou, and the DVD program, Creating a Life that Matters.

Honored by Forbes Magazine in 2004 as one of America's leading venture investors with the "Midas" touch, Mark has served as an investor and chairman of many startup companies. He worked for a dozen years for Charles Schwab, serving in a variety of senior roles, including Chief Communications Officer and, later, as Executive Producer responsible for the customer experience of Schwab.com.

His company, Integration Associates, was acquired by Silicon Labs for $80 million in 2008.

Mark is a venture investor, management advisor and former board member of private and public companies. He served as Chairman of Rioport, Inc., which popularized the MP3 player; he was Chairman of Integration, Inc., a communications semiconductor company; and Chairman of VMAX, which was the exclusive distributor of Micron PCs in China. He has been speaker at London Business School, Stanford University, U.C. Berkeley, The Economist and Fortune Magazine conferences, The New York Stock Exchange summits with The Churchill Club and Financial Executives Institute. He served on the Council of The Heartland Circle Thought Leaders Gatherings.

He is a cofounder of the Stanford Realtime Venture Design Lab and a visiting scholar at Stanford. Mark has also served as a governor and lecture member at the prestigious World Economic Forum.

He is a former member of the board of Best Buy Enterprises, Korn Ferry International, Interwoven and Teletech, and was an advisor to many other private startups. He served on the board of the National Investor Relations Institute and Seniornet.com. In 1996 he accepted an appointment to U.S. SEC Consumer Advisory Council.

He also created the Leaders of the New Century series through his production company, Network Public Broadcasting International, and was a contributor and host for CEO and executive interviews for thought leaders programs by Korn Ferry International and Ernst & Young.

Mark has a passion for education and educational media, particularly for those in need. He volunteers his time and money to independent producers of public broadcasting and to classroom and scholarship programs for elementary and graduate education programs.
