Biography: Dr. Ravi Rao, MD, PhD, MeD, is an organizational advisor, conflict resolver, change process navigator, and leadership instructor. His work to serve others, entitled Rao Leadership, is the outgrowth of his many years of work with organizations. His academic background includes training in neurosurgery at Harvard, as well as research in emotional development. His experience as a senior manager at McKinsey & Company has shaped his approach to working with large global entities. He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and the University of Virginia. Dr. Rao serves individuals and groups in a variety of potential interfaces. These include individual counseling with executives and leaders, dispute resolution between individuals or groups within an organization, solving problems in team dynamics, training programs for small and large groups on transcendent service, and engagement with enterprise-wide change initiatives such as strategic planning or post-merger cultural integration. These are not traditional get-in, get-out consulting approaches; rather, they are based on a commitment to see genuine transformation in clients. |

The Human Herd: Neuroscience Connects Us to Each Other
For centuries, humans have described the experiences of existence - sadness, joy, anger, fear, hope, love - as being part of a particular organ in the body. In poetry, in music, in literature, we describe these emotional experiences as being part of the heart. But, we now know the actual truth from neuroscience - life's experiences are centered in the brain. Like every other species on earth, the human brain is wired to make us aware of others in our species, and to care for others in our species. This is not the standard presentation on EQ; rather, it is an exploration of the ways in which we have learned to ignore our emotional awareness and how to rediscover the disengaged parts of our neurology to make us reunited as a human herd. This applies not only to our interactions with customers, clients, or patients, but even more so to our workplace interactions with our colleagues. Dr. Rao will offer a radical and transformational way of viewing our connectedness to each other. Dr. Rao's goal is to create for every seminar participant a sense of "vuja de". Everyone knows what déjà vu is - it is the sense that you come to a new place but feel like you've seen it before. The opposite, vuja de, is to have you look at places (and people) that you've seen a thousand times before, but feel like it is for the very first time once you've been given a new set of "eyes" from which to see your role as a leader and a fellow member of the human species |
